About Sherri

Published by Sherri Dodsworth

I’ve been helping investors buy and sell properties in the Cape San Blas area since 1995.  Since my first visit to the Cape in 1985, I’ve lived through the myriad changes the Cape has seen in the past twenty years and have had the pleasure of helping countless visitors become neighbors and new friends with many repeat customers and referrals from satisfied customers.

I grew up in Tampa before marrying my husband, Rod, a retired Naval Flight Officer.  We settled on the Cape in 1994 to enjoy waterfront living on St. Joe Bay. I served in the Navy, too, prior to earning my degree in Communications from the University of North Florida.

I began my career in news paper advertising, beginning with The Star in Washngton, D.C, and finishing with the Monterey Herald in Monterey, CA as Assistant Ad Director. The marketing skills and sales expertise acquired during that phase of my career allow me to provide thorough and targeted marketing plans for my sellers, and help me target buyers with the info they’re seeking.

Whether you’re buying or selling, contact me for a real estate experience you’ll remember for all the right reasons!

    Thanks for your blog Sherri!

We owned property in Apalach for about 15 years but sold after moving to Australia in 2002.
We are looking at buying in the area again, hopefully around the Cape area.

We have enjoyed reading your blog.

    Thanks,
    ange

Thank you so much for the kind words I’m glad you found my blog and are enjoying reading it. I’ve had a lot of fun doing it, and knowing there are people actually reading it makes it that much more fun. Let me know if there are any issues or questions you’d like me to look into for you.

    Hi Sherri,

I enjoy your blog. You seem like you have common sense and a brain in your head. Have you ever considered running for local government?

Maybe you could make some noise about the property tax debacle in Gulf County. It is amazing to me that falling property values can actually result in higher taxes, but Gulf County seems to have raised this phenomenon to an art form. I really don’t see the point of having assessments at all, since they just raise the millage when the values go down.

Has anyone over there ever heard of budget-cutting instead of shameless mooching from property owners?

We live out of state and are buying some property in the area. I used to live in Florida and I am wondering why I am being so stupid to buy there again since the property taxes have gotten so ridiculous.

I guess it’s the fabulous beaches. The lack of a personal income tax is another plus, but they are doing their best to offset that benefit with the tax on property.

    Thanks again for the blog.

    Emily
